At the April Town Board Meeting a resolution was presented and passed to dedicate the new multi-purpose field, which will soon be under construction in the newly expanded area of the Town Park, in honor of Edward Sloma. Ed played a major role in the creation of the Town Park. He was the originator of the "Greater Whitestown Recreation Committee" that supported the concept and development of the park and volunteered many hours of his time and service to make it a reality. He was a key fundraiser for the project utilizing the many contacts he had through work and community. He helped solicit the inital grants that helped pay for the plan design and for the subsequent park improvements. Ed was a dedicated family man and was heavily involved with Whitestown's youth. His recent passing is a loss to our community and we are proud to name this field in his honor. A ceremonial dedication of the Ed Sloma Field will take place on Friday, July 10 at 4PM at the Town Park on Gibson Road.
